Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton (January 11, 1755/57-July 12, 1804) served as the first Treasurer of the United States. Hamilton authored most of the Federalist Papers, was a New York delegate to the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and played a pivotal role in the creation of the U.S. Constitution. Hamilton wrote pamphlets prior to the American Revolution and played a key role as an artillery captain during the Battle of Trenton. He then served as a lieutenant colonel under General George Washington.
